Project Overview
Ginger Ninja is a homegrown South African sunscreen brand that doesn't take itself too seriously—even if it takes sun protection very seriously. Tasked with building the brand from the ground up, I handled the full creative spectrum, from the initial spark of a logo to the final clicks on the website.
The Bold & Quirky Design Strategy
The goal was to break away from the clinical, "pharmacy-white" look of traditional sunblock. Instead, we leaned into a high-energy, personality-driven identity.

Logo & Character Illustration
I developed the "Ginger Ninja" persona a group of feisty, relatable characters who serves as the brand’s essence. The illustrations use vibrant, high-contrast colours and comic-style to ensure the brand pops on a crowded shelf.

Packaging that Packs a Punch
We swapped boring labels for maximalist patterns and witty copy. The packaging is designed to be a conversation starter at the beach, featuring "stealthy" design elements that play on the 'ginger' theme.

Digital Presence
The website was built to be as punchy as the product. I focused on a user-first interface that maintains the quirky brand voice through playful illustrations and a bold, saturated coluor palette that mirrors the South African summer.
