Project Overview
Friends of Design is a hub for South African creative talent, and their brand needed to reflect that constant pulse of innovation. Working in collaboration with Loud Rabbits, I was responsible for a vast ecosystem of touchpoints, ranging from high-stakes marketing collateral to the granular details of their digital interface.
A Playground for Design Trends
Because the audience consists of aspiring and professional designers, the brand couldn't afford to be static. It needed to be playful, vibrant, and experimental, while maintaining the professional polish expected of a leading educational institution.
Digital Ecosystem (UI & Icons): I led the UI design for the website, focusing on a seamless user journey for prospective students. To complement the interface, I developed a custom suite of bespoke icons clean, functional, but with enough "quirk" to align with the brand’s DNA.
Dynamic Marketing & Social Media: The social media landscape allowed for the most experimentation. I explored contemporary design trends, playing with bold typography, layered textures, and vibrant colour blocking, to ensure the Academy stayed relevant in a fast-moving digital space.
Tangible Touchpoints (Posters & Brochures): For the physical world, I designed high-impact posters and multi-page brochures. These pieces balanced dense academic information with breathable, modern layouts, ensuring the "vibrant" brand voice was never lost in the details.
Scope of Work & Collaboration
This was a truly holistic project where I acted as a visual gatekeeper for the brand across multiple mediums.
